LIFE'S A BEACH: 5 SUNNY SWIMSUITS

Swimsuit season is finally here! Who’s excited? Itsy bitsy bikinis, retro-chic cuts, sporty styles and happy summer prints: here are our top 5 styles of the season.

1. Whoever invented reversible fabric is a genius. This adorable Roxy suit goes from a happy floral to a Breton stripe in a second. Two for the price of one: what’s not to love? $46 for the top and $36 for the bottoms at Roxy.com

2. To play rather than lounge, there is no better designer to turn to than Stella McCartney for Adidas. With this resilient but stylish bikini, we can break the waves and stay fashionable too. $74.99 for separates at Adidas.com

3. For some local flavour, we can look toCuchè, a Vancouver-based brand that marries retro style with modern cuts (think Brigitte Bardot rather than Dita Von Teese). Our favourite is the Charlotte suit ($185) at Oliver & Lilly’s, 1520 W. 13th Ave., Vancouver, 604-736-7774,www.oliverandlillys.com

4. Sometimes the situation calls for the skimpiest bikini in existence and who better to call on than Rosa Cha, the queen of Brazilian swimwear. This bikini features a Brazilian cut bottom and here’s the trick: less fabric on the bum actually makes it look better. $210 at Net-a-Porter.com

5. On the other hand, a bit more coverage can be just as sexy. With this gorgeous print by Diane von Furstenberg, this one-piece is bound to attract some sunny attention. And it features the DVF signature wrap. $230 at Shopbop.com and DVF.com
