Funny Girls
The empty calories of that frothy chick flick you saw last has you craving a more filling film.
 Consider Please Give,
a seriocomedy by Nicole Holofcener, a writer/director the critics laud
for creating female characters that are complicated and nuanced like
the rest of us. Catherine Keener, in her fourth film with Holofcener,
stars as Kate, a Manhattanite trying to reconcile the wealth she’s
acquired buying mid-century furniture for cheap off those in mourning
with giving to the poor.
Smart, funny, incisive and doesn’t involve any sabotaging brides-to-be—it’s a must-see.
