late lunch

There's something decadent about making a date for a "late lunch." The unspoken word, of course, is that wine will be involved.

And now that Aurora Bistro is open at lunch (and for weekend brunch) you can delve into the all–B.C. wine list to accompany the organic and local fare.

We loved the organic green salad with frozen blackberries ($9) and prawn bisque ($8) with vanilla Chantilly foam. The thinly sliced tea–smoked Polderside duck with pickled beets ($11) was perfect with the rose–coloured Nichol Vineyards pinot gris.

And for dessert? "Fresh Little Five Spice Doughnuts" ($9) are worth fighting over (or taking back to the office for those without expense accounts, poor souls).
