readers recommend: italian libations

dear vitamin v,

The cocktail you came up with (the endless summer) is a close neighbour to one of the most classic aperitif cocktails from the north of Italy: the spritz (or spritzer, depending on where in northern Italy you drink it). The recipe is 1/3 Campari, 1/3 white wine, 1/3 soda/sparkling water, mixed and served with an olive. The spritz is drunk before dinner (i.e. 6 p.m. Italian time, 3 p.m. Canadian!) summer and winter, accompanied by a few chips, olives and saltines. It is perfect for socialising after work, developing your appetite and getting into the dinner-cooking mood.
