play that funky musice

If you've always dreamed of making music but failed to master even the most basic of instruments (recorder flashbacks anyone?), fear not.

Vancouver's very own DJ Leanne will have you spinning break beats faster than you can say Danger Mouse at her newly redesigned Rhythm Institute.

Learn from the city's best reggae, funk, R&B, house and techno DJs at the Institute's ultra-modern downtown studio, complete with white washed walls, sleek furniture, sexy lighting, graffiti-inspired artwork, and private spinning rooms where you can get your groove on in peace.

Beginner Fun Da' Mentals classes ($199) teach you how to spin, scratch, cue and mix your favourite songs into club-worthy tracks. They even throw a little theory in for good measure. Students range from soccer moms to stockbrokers, so no need to look the part.

Just choose your style, put the needle on the record and pick your groovy DJ name.

Sorry, VitaminV-J is taken.
