sea and be seen

Remember when beach food consisted of rubbery hot dogs from the Kits concession stand? Well, how about an order of peel-and-eat jumbo B.C. spot prawns with herb garlic sauce, instead?

That’s just one of the new menu items at Go Fish, the coolest little fish shack this side of Sao Paulo. The menu is determined by what’s fresh on the boats at Fisherman’s Warf below. Cross your fingers it’s the day they’re dishing up Emperor Scallop burgers with butter lettuce, lime mayo and crispy onion ring, or finger-licking BBQ oyster tacones.

With menu items maxing out at $10, it’s the perfect weekend lunch spot, followed by a stroll down the seawall.

And if you cave and buy a Revello at Kits beach for dessert, well so be it.

Go Fish summer hours: 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday. 1505 W. First Ave (at Fisherman’s Warf on the seawall), 604-730-5040. No reservations.
