Is it just us, or is there a surplus of buff young men cruising the aisles at the new Cambie and 16th Avenue Capers Community Market?

Could be the new condos upstairs, or the fact that there’s almost an entire city block worth of wholesome groceries to be had, but either way, take a peek in his cart and see if he’s worthy:

Malmaison Oxford Castle Hotel

A former prison at Oxford Castle, today there’s nothing masochistic about shutting yourself in at the Malmaison.

The 94 rooms are designed with only punishing decadence in mind. Much of the original fittings and layout have been maintained, including studded metal doors and barred windows, but chic modern updates have created an atmosphere of moody luxury.

The Brasserie and Bar in the cellar are also criminally good.
