SHAKEN NOT STIRRED

Daniel Craig revived the Bond film franchise and left us double-o drooling for more.

Quantum of Solace, the blonde Brit’s second outing as secret agent, hits theatres today and to celebrate here’s a reviving cocktail concocted by James himself as it appears in Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel, Casino Royale:

“A dry martini,” he said. “One. In a deep champagne goblet.”

“Oui, monsieur.”

“Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?”

We do, and now you do too. Since Kina Lillet is no longer made, you can mix yours with Lillet Blanc or dry vermouth and a dash of Angostura bitters.

Then raise your glass to Vesper Lynd, the original Bond girl and dearly departed double-agent for whom the drink was named.

Find the ingredients for a Kina Lillet at BC Liquor Stores.
