Plan au Chocolat

OCTOBER 30TH, 2009

Plan au Chocolat

Ever since we spent every morning of our European sojourn at cafés sipping cappuccino and nibbling flaky, light croissants, we've been searching for a substitute in closer proximity that satisfies our high standards. And now, it Haas been found.

Thomas Haas, master pastry chef and North Shore favourite, has opened a new patisserie in Kits. Right next door to another decadence, Lumiere restaurant, the spacious spot features a chocolate-coloured marble countertop (that looks good enough to eat), chic bistro tables, and a honeycomb-shaped ceiling. But the real stars are his dependably delicious pastries and desserts, and the pain au chocolat ($2.75) is a little piece of Paris on a plate.

Open Tuesday through Saturday at 8 a.m., we suggest you make a plan to hold all your morning meetings there for the rest of the week.

Thomas Haas, 2539 W. Broadway, Vancouver, 604-736-1848, www.thomashaas.com
