When you think of a B&B, a lofty private room with vaulted ceilings is probably not the first image to come to mind. But lucky for us the owners of the new Cougar's Crag Extreme B&B in Sooke near Victoria, have reinvented the B & B experience. Banished are the doily curtains and tweed décor. Instead, this beautiful, airy house has a pair of adjoining two-storey suites with luxe amenities such as a turbo-tub, towel warmers, satellite TV and DVD, fridge, microwave, and a private deck. Your pooch is as welcome as you are, and the owners will even doggie-sit should you want some spa time (or a delish gourmet dinner) at nearby Sooke Harbour House. Dubbed an “Extreme B&B,” there are plenty of hiking and mountain biking opportunities on the famous, ocean-side Galloping Goose Trail (they’ll rent you the bikes). But when you sink into the soaker tub with a glass of bubbles at night, you’ll be thinking extreme alright, as in extremely relaxed. Room rates from $175 per unit.
